BENGALURU: Senior Congress leader C. Motamma has joined the bandwagon of aspirants lobbying for a berth in the ministry by meeting party president Sonia Gandhi and everal senior leaders in New Delhi on Thursday.
Speaking to DC, another woman leader who accompanied Ms Motamma, said the former minister pleaded her case with leaders on grounds of inadequate representation to members of the upper House as well as women. “Ever since Mr Siddaramaiah took over as CM, he has ensured meagre representation for members of upper House on grounds that he faces opposition from MLAs. She told the leaders that even those either elected or nominated to the Council have made equal contribution to the party and its growth, and therefore the cabinet should have considerable number of MLCs too,” she added.
‘Make me KPCC chief’
Meanwhile, buoyed by caste-census data leak, hinting that Madigas have edged out those of Chalavadi community among dalits in terms of population, seven-time MP K.H. Muniyappa too met Ms Gandhi and urged her to appoint him Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president.
Sources said that Mr Muniyappa commenced lobbying for the top post in Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee as he was convined that it was opportune time to seek that position.
