RTC to publicise schemes to attract more passengers in Godavari districts

Authorities will install a speaker, an amplifier and a mobile phone at the targeted bus stage.

Rajahmundry: As the APSRTC has announced a slew of measures in a bid to attract more number of passengers and help boost its revenue, the authorities are carrying out a survey on potential routes to tap the passenger traffic in Godavari districts.

The authorities intend to set up a public announcement system at bus stages where more number of passengers wait for transport facility.

Accordingly, they will install a speaker, an amplifier and a mobile phone at the targeted bus stage. The RTC bus driver will be having a mobile phone. The authorities will fix some bus stages having more patronage of passengers and install public announcement system.

The mobile number of such stages will be saved in the mobile phone being carried by the RTC driver. The authorities use speed dial option in the mobile phone of the driver in the bus stages.

As the bus is likely to arrive to specific stage in about 10 to 15 minutes, the bus driver will call up at the mobile phone of specific bus stage and anno-unce that the bus is located at some place and is li-kely to reach the bus stage in about a few minutes.

The authorities maintain that giving such information will help the passengers wait at the bus stage for the RTC bus mainly Palle Velugu or Express to arrive and board it instead of travelling by private transport like auto-rickshaw or private buses.

The authorities intend to experiment this public announcement system at few bus stages to see the response from the passengers. The authorities claim that RTC is having a good track record of ensuring safe travel, the passengers will wait for a few minutes for the arrival of the bus and board it.

They say that it will help enhance their occupancy ratio and boost up earnings. As the RTC authorities announced concessional travel to the passengers travelling in last two rows by about 20 per cent less than actual fare and allow free travel from th-eir place of stay to reach the bus complex just befo-re two hours of the scheduled departure of bus and also allow the passengers similarly to reach their place of stay just after two hours of reaching their destination, the authorities intend to give more publicity to such schemes to help the passengers to avail them by arranging massive flexi boards and banners at bus stations.

East Godavari RTC reg-ional manager Ch. Ravi Kumar said, “We are goi-ng to give good publicity for a series of schemes to help the passengers avail them."
