Many claimants in TD for Kurnool seat

S.V. Mohan Reddy said that he has been declared as a candidate and there is no reason for any speculation about his nomination.

Kurnool: Kurnool constituency is about to pose yet another headache to the TD as rival factions are claiming seats and have started campaigning well ahead of elections.

T.G. Bharath, son of T.G. Venakatesh, launched the constituency vision yatra a month ago, by visiting all the residential colonies, enlisting their support.

The hope of being fielded as a TD candidate stems from the fact that in the 2014 general elections, T.G. Venkatesh lost the election to YSRC candidate S.V. Mohan Reddy. T.G. Bharath said that they have natural claim to the ticket and have initiated several developmental and welfare activities in the constituency.

S.V. Mohan Reddy, who was elected on YSRC ticket, later defected to TD with a fond hope of developing the constituency. The pitch was queered when IT minister Nara Lokesh made a public announcement, declaring S.V. Mohan Reddy, the sitting MLA, as the next candidate. This has caused confusion among the cadre, more so with the TG family.

Not leaving at this, Rajya Sabha MP T.G. Venkatesh said in a press meet that the declaration of a candidate is based on several parameters and it is not the practice of TD to announce it in public forums. He said he had a legitimate claim to the seat and his son T.G. Bharath is being groomed for it.

S.V. Mohan Reddy said that he has been declared as a candidate and there is no reason for any speculation about his nomination.

He said that he had been taking up TD’s official programmes all along and would be victorious. But T.G. Bharath, son of MP T.G Venkatesh, has been continuing his own Yatra without any regard for S.V. Mohan Reddy. It has been causing headaches for the TD leadership.
