Visakhapatnam: A silent but steady movement is taking shape in this region, demanding Special Category Status to Andhra Pradesh, despite the Union government’s refusal.

Ever since the protest demanding Jallikattu at Marina Beach led by college youth and supported by every section of society, drew the nation’s attention, a parallel has been drawn in Andhra Pradesh to demand special category status, which will benefit the state. Even Tamil film actors putting aside their differences, had hit the streets and supported the Jallikattu movement.

There were “forwards” on social media platforms ever since the Marina protest was launched, asking Telugus to take inspiration from Tamils to press for Special Category Status.
