Build industries using affordable ways: N Chandrababu Naidu

Officials told to tap latent technologies in solar, wind.

Vijayawada: Buoyed by the savings of around Rs 872 crore through various cost-effective measures like swapping of loans, improving efficiency, reduction of losses to 9.77 per cent, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has directed the energy department on Wednesday to work out special strategies for cost-effective power for rapid industrial growth.

He specifically directed the officials to tap the latent technologies in solar, wind and energy efficiency. “What I’m determined is to take every possible step to strengthen the power sector for overall economic development of the state and specifically not to increase the tariff even by single paise during 2017-18, said Chief Minister.

While launching “The Andhra Pradesh State Energy Calculator 2050 (APSEC-2050)” which is first of its kind in the entire nation developed by NITI Aayog with support from British High Commission, the CM directed the officials to go for deep dive analysis of this Energy Calculator in order to bring in new and innovative strategies to assess the demand and supply positions of Power Generation, Transmission curb anticipated future requirements, apart from supplying highly qualitative uninterrupted power.

Expressing satisfaction over Wednesday’s development that Work Bank is ready to provide 100% grant for battery storage to AP Government in the proposed 160 MW Wind, solar Hybrid Park along at Anantapur, the CM emphatically stated that the government, while promoting renewable energy sources, will continue to fully support APGENCO for accelerating generation to meet the future demands.

Ajay Jain Prl. secretary, Energy, I&I, CRDA, K. Vijayanand, chairman and MD briefed the CM that while regular buses incur an expenditure of '22 per km towards running cost the electric vehicles incurs just '10 per km and also very minute maintenance cost. During the meeting, the energy minister Kala Venkat Rao thanked the NITI Aayog for selecting Andhra Pradesh as the first state in India to develop the energy calculator. Sai Prasad, Prl secretary to CM, K. Ranganatham, advisor Energy Dept, H.Y. Dora, CMD APEPDCL, Dinesh Paruchuri and J Umapathi JMD, APTRANSCO, directors of Discoms Pulla Reddy, Seshukumar, Chandrasekhar, Kamalakar Babu. VC & MD NREDCAP, Adiseshu, MD/APSPCL, VSR Naidu COO, APSPCL and other senior officials of power utilities participated in the review meeting.

ST Reservation for FISHERMEN, promises Naidu:

Fishermen will get ST Reservation, we will pass the resolution and will send to Delhi, promised by the Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu in the World Fishermen Day Celebrations. Fishermen have been supported the TD from the beginning, stated Mr Naidu. He has participated in the programme as the Chief Guest. He has informed that 34,000 crores of foreign currency is coming from the fishermen.

Around Rs 43,000 crores are spending for Chandranna Bheema Scheme, he added. Mr Naidu has explained the details of the benefits giving to the fishermen where he said Rs 1.50 lakh will be given as housing subsidy and subsidy is also given for 4,500 litres diesel. Fishermen will get Pension, at the age of 50 years itself, he said.

World Fisheries Day has celebrated grandly at Tummalapalli Kalakhetram, Vijayawada on Tuesday. minister for Fisheries & Cooperatives Adinarayana Reddy, minister for Water Resources Devineni Umamaheswar Rao, minister for Medical & Health Kamineni Srinivas, Minister for Law & Skill Development Kollu Ravindra have attended the Fisheries Day celebrations. Dr Kamineni Srinivas said he is also one of the leaders for the fishermen units once upon a time.
