Hyderabad: The transport committee, constituted for the GES has sought about 330 Innova vehicles for delegates, besides 60 RTC Garuda, Garuda Plus and Vajra buses, 20 buses from the tourism wing and 10 bu-ses from private travels.
The Innovas should be air-conditioned and registered after 2016, the transport department was told. Of these 330 SUVs, 250 will be used for the transportation of delegates and another 60 for strike and special forces from the police department to monitor the activities of anti-Trump protesters in the city as well as for anti-sabotage patrolling.
JTC J. Pandurang Naik said eight travel agents have been asked to arrange the required Innovas from November 27 to 30.
“The private travels will be paid '4,200 for eight hours per day for the Innovas. Besides, we have procured 10 private Volvo buses for transportation of police personnel,” he said.
A source said while the transport panel was arra-nging vehicles for transportation of delegates, the GAD was taking care of VIPs and VVIPs.
Referring to the vehicles being shipped from the US, Mr Naik said, “There is no need of temporary registrations or temporary permits for such vehicles. As per the reports, about 20 vehicles from the US will be part of Ivanka Trump’s convoy.”
