TG Halli tragedy: Custody of accused extended

Bengaluru: A court in Ramanagar has extended the judicial custody of the five accused in the ‘Maasthigudi’ movie tragedy case till December 3.

The Tavarekere police had arrested film producer Sundar P. Gowda, director Nagashekhar, assistant director Siddu, stunt choreographer Ravi Varma and unit manager S. Bharath in connection with the incident in which two actors, Raghava Uday and Anil Kumar, drowned in the Thippagondanahalli reservoir after jumping from a helicopter while shooting for the climax scene of the movie on November 7. While the producer was arrested, the other four had surrendered. All the five were remanded to judicial custody till November 21.

As their custody ended on Monday, they were produced before the magistrate of the Second JMFC Court in Ramanagar which extended their judicial custody till December 3.

Meanwhile, family members of Raghava Uday performed ‘Ganga Puja’ at the Thippagondanahalli lake, where the actor drowned, on Monday. His brother-in-law said that the family has not received any financial help. “Excepting the ‘Danger Zone’ movie team that contributed

Rs 50,000, we have not got anything. Everyone is just giving us assurances. Even the government has not helped us, though two weeks have passed after the incident,” he alleged.
