Hyderabad: A big truck followed by a convoy of six vehicles transported the VVIP, which happened to be a giant bull, weighing nearly one-and-a-half tonne.
The influential Yadav community in the city follows this at the time of Sadar.
They try to rope in strong and powerful bulls, mostly of the Murrah bread, from Haryana and Punjab. The process starts two months before Sadar.
“We need to go to the northern states to consult people there and convince them to send their prized possessions for the Hyderabad Sadar,” Hari Babu Yadav, who has been bringing bulls from north India for the past three years, said.
This year, he brought Dhara from Haryana and Raja from Punjab (both weighing 1,300 kg).
Dhara is born to the 1,500-kg strong Yuvraj, a 21-time champion at national level events, while Raja is a 12-time champion. Because of high stakes involved, utmost care is taken in the transportation of these animals.
“The truck carrying the bull is followed by a convoy of six cars. The journey lasts for nearly a week. Travelling is done in the day time. The journey is fully planned to ensure safety of the animals,” Mr Yadav said.
