Andhra Pradesh wants Centre to resolve assets row

The AP government has decided to write to the chairman of Apex Committee, in this case the additional secretary, Union home ministry.

Hyderabad: With AP and TS officials failing to reach consensus over sharing of assets of 10th Schedule institutions, the AP government has decided to approach the Centre over the issue.

The AP government has decided to write to the chairman of Apex Committee, in this case the additional secretary, Union home ministry. The Centre had directed both the states to hold discussions on sharing of the assets, following which the officials held discussions.

After the meeting, AP officials said that they have concluded that there was no possibility of the two governments reaching consensus and the only way a solution is found would be for the Centre to step in.

The AP officials said that they will write to the chairman of Apex Committee since it was he who had facilitated the dialogue. They said that it was now up to the Centre to resolve the issue as directed by the Supreme Court.

The AP officials said that the Supreme Court judgment on 10th Schedule institutions consists of observations, directions and decree. AP officials said that they will ask the Centre to take the opinion of the attorney general and resolve the issue.
