Hyderabad: Madhavi taken off ventilator

Hyderabad: Madhavi, the woman who was attacked by her father at SR Nagar on Wednesday, has been taken off the ventilator on Friday. Her condition is said to be stable and she is out of danger now, said an official spokesperson from the hospital, adding that her hand, which was almost severed, would take a long time to heal. Madhavi had to go through multiple surgeries at Yashoda Hospital.

After admission, the doctors took up reconstruction of facial nerves, blood vessels, ear and muscles in the neck region, and reconstruction of blood vessels, nerves, tendons and muscles in both the hands.

As compared to Thursday, she is gradually showing improvement and her pulse and blood pressure are normal now, said Sampath, the spokesperson from Yashoda Hospital.

“Based on her condition on Saturday, we will shift her out of the Intensive Care Unit. She is on antibiotic coverage and is stable,” he said. A team of senior doctors are monitoring her.

Madhavi was admitted in the hospital on Wednesday evening around 5.30 pm in a hypovolemic shock, which is a result of severe blood loss and other bodily fluids. The initial diagnosis stated that she had suffered deep lacerations on the left side of the neck and face, left ear and left forearm with near total amputation of the left forearm and a right wrist lacerated injury,” he added.

A team of senior doctors including vascular surgeon Dr Devender Singh, plastic surgeon Dr N. Rambabu, orthopaedic surgeon Dr Sunil Dachepalli, senior neurosurgeon Dr Ravi Suman Reddy and senior healthcare providers from departments of emergency medicine, critical care and anaesthesia are monitoring her case and providing her with the best possible care.
