Telangana CM puts administration on high alert, instructs to call Army if needed

Mr Rao asked them to utilise the services of disaster management, police and Army in relief operations.

Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao put the administration on high alert following predictions of heavy rainfall in the next two days, even as he asked officials to take up relief operations on war footing on Wednesday.

Mr Rao, who is away in New Delhi to attend the Apex Council meeting, was constantly in touch with senior officials and asked them to utilise the services of disaster management, police and Army in relief operations.

He asked the city administration to shift people from low lying areas and dilapidated houses to safer places. He told medical and health department officials to check the spread of contagious diseases.

“People should be cautious in view of the prediction of heavy rain in the next two/three days. Complaints to control room should be attended to on priority,” he said.

The Chief Minister also monitored the rising water level at Hussainsagar and other lakes in the twin cities and outskirts. He also asked officials to evacuate people living around rising lakes to safer places and ensure that water flowed without obstruction on all the thoroughfares in and around city.
