KT Rama Rao to receive PV Sindhu at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport

The GHMC has made grand arrangements to welcome Sindhu.

Hyderabad: Minister K.T. Rama Rao will lead the reception for Olympic silver medallist P.V. Sindhu when she arrives at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport at Shamshabad on Monday.

The Olympics silver medalist will be given a grand reception at the airport followed by a rally in an open-top motorcade to Gachibowli stadium where she will be fecilitated.

The GHMC has made grand arrangements to welcome Sindhu. GHMC commissioner B. Janardhan Reddy on Sunday visited the airport and the Gachibowli stadium and supervised arrangements.

He inspected the route of the motorcade which will pass through Rajendranagar, Hyderguda, Attapur, Rethibowli, Tolichowki, Raidurgam and Gachibowli.

Mr Janardhan Reddy told this newspaper that nearly 30,000 students and others were expected at the stadium. “We are arranging cultural programmes at the Gachibowli stadium,” he said.

State ministers, Hyderabad collector Rahul Bojja, Mr Janardhan Reddy and officials from various departments will be at hand to welcome Sindhi.

The Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry Ladies Organisation, Hyderabad chapter, has offered a lifetime membership to Sindhu following her success at the Rio Olympics.

Try to avoid airport road, police says

The Cyberabad West police has imposed traffic restrictions from the Shamshabad airport to Gachibowli stadium in view of P.V. Sindhu’s victory rally from 8 am to 12 noon on Monday.

Police advised commuters to avoid the road from the airport to the GMC Stadium at Gachibowli.

Traffic movement will be slow on this route, the Cyberabad West police cautioned motorists in a release.

Route to avoid: RGIA to GMC stadium via PVNR expressway underpass, Attapur, Retibowli, Tolichowki, Khajaguda, Gachibowli.

VIPs can use Road No. 36, 100-feet road, Cyber Towers, Kothaguda, Botanical Gardens, Masjid Banda, Old Bombay Highway to avoid possible traffic jams.
