Andhra Pradesh: YSR Congress worried over political murders

Party MLA G. Srikanth Reddy said the YSRC would expose the TD's “murder politicsâ€.

Vijayawada: The YSRC said on Sunday that it would take the issue of political murders to Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan and other investigative agencies. Party MLA G. Srikanth Reddy said the YSRC would expose the TD’s “murder politics”.

This follows the recent string of political murders at Pathikonda, Allagadda in Kurnool, Raptadu in Anantapur, Markapuram in Guntur. The decision was triggered by the murder of YSRC constituency in-charge Narayana Reddy, who contested against Deputy Chief Minister K.E. Krishnamurthy in the 2014 elections, and his follower near Krishnagiri in Kurnool district.

Faction murders recurring in Rayalaseema are worrying the state opposition. The dual murder of YSRC leaders Induru Prabhakar Reddy and his brother-in-law Srinivasulu Reddy at Govindapalli in Allagadda Assembly constituency on May 8 jolted the law enforcement department. The victims were close followers of YSRC MLC Gangula Prabhakar Reddy.

The police suspects the role of TD leaders but has not taken any action. In another incident, YSRC leader and Raptadu mandal unit party chief Gomireddy Prasada Reddy was hacked to death in the tahsildar office a year ago in Anantapur district.

In Nellore, YSRC leader Allam Narendra was murdered in 2015 in the busy Santhapeta area. In Vizag, V. Sabbavaram YSRC sarpanch B.D.V. Lakshmi’s husband B. Raju was murdered by political rivals in 2016.

In Tenali, YSRC youth wing leader of Maddisetti Krishna was murdered a few years ago and political rivalry between the two leading parties is reaching its peak and are involved in murder politics.
