Separatist leader Nayeem Khan detained at Srinagar airport

Khan was on his way to take part in Pakistan Day celebrations at Pakistan High Commission on Thursday.

Srinagar: Separatist leader Nayeem Khan was detained at Srinagar airport on Tuesday when he was on his way to New Delhi.

The separatist leader was taken to Saddar Police Station from where he is likely shifted to his residence and placed under house arrest, he said.

Khan was on his way to New Delhi apparently to take part in Pakistan Day celebrations at Pakistan High Commission on Thursday.

Notably, other separatist leaders, who have participated in the Pakistan Day celebrations in the past, are currently under detention inside their homes or in jail.

Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Shabir Ahmad Shah are among the top leaders put under house arrest while JKLF chairman Mohammad Yasin Malik is currently lodged at Central Jail Srinagar.
