Thiruvananthapuram: Thiruvananthapuram has been proposed by AICTE as the site for one of the four proposed training centres in the country.
The training will be mandatory for new teachers in the future and it will be necessary for existing teachers while applying for promotions.
The AICTE was setting up four teacher training academies in the country to equip candidates with the latest changes in technical education. The academies will come up at Guwahati, Baroda and Jaipur besides Thiruvana-nthapuram.
The proposed training will have eight modules that will be semester-based.
Sources said that the AICTE has already approached the state government concerned to provide land free of cost for these training centres.
The draft of the comprehensive training policy for technical teachers has envisaged two distinct categories of the training programmes namely Faculty Induction Programme (FIP) to be provided to teachers who have recruited fresh and in-service training programmes cate-ring to the specific requirement at various levels of the teaching career.
