Telugus adapt easily in foreign countries: Chandrababu Naidu

He urged all Telugu associations to come together under NRT to work together, irrespective of parties.

Vijayawada: In a meeting with the people of the Telugu community in Zurich on Saturday, the Chief Minister said that Indians and in particular the people of Andhra Pradesh adapt themselves easily wherever they go. He said that he is happy to see a number of Telugus settling in various parts of the world. He added that there is a need for Telugus to become a powerful community.

The Chief Minister said while most of the Indians go abroad as labourers, those from Andhra Pradesh are mostly skilled professionals. He asked Telugus to take advantage of their networks and start businesses. Technology and best practices are the key factors which can be brought back to India, the CM said.

The Chief Minister said that India has many advantages which can make her a fast growing country. He said India has the world’s largest youth population with a strong cultural unity which will help it march ahead of other countries.

He added that Indians are strong in technology and mathematics also. He reminded everyone that zero was discovered by an Indian. The CM said that the government is keen on seeing Telugus prosperous. The CM said that Telugus from anywhere is the world can communicate and video call their relatives with the help of the Internet facility provided by the government through the fibre grid project. He informed the Telugus that most of the departments in AP are automated.

“We are keen on bringing all departments online. We started e-office, e-file, e-cabinet. We are also distributing pensions online,” the Chief Minister said.

Later he spoke about demonetisation and the effect it had on the state. The CM said that he is keen on increasing the mobile transaction from the present 40 per cent to 70 to 80 per cent.

The Chief Minister shared his Davos experience with members of the Telugu community. He said, “When I presented CM dash board yesterday at WEF everybody appreciated it. I have done many innovations but I presented only two of them, Fiber grid and CM dash board. They were surprised.”

He said that at 6% of actual cost the government was able to provide Net to all households in the state.

“Fibre grid costs Rs 5000 crore but by utilizing power lines we have cut down the cost to Rs 320 crore,” said the Chief Minister.

The Chief Minister mentioned that Davos is a wonderful platform which brings together best brains at one place. He urged all Telugu associations to come together under NRT to work together, irrespective of parties.

“Leaders must build consensus. I am targeting 15 per cent growth rate. Last year we achieved 10.99 per cent growth. In spite of 28 per cent deficit rain fall we could achieve growth. Andhra Pradesh is getting all awards in Agriculture, power and other sectors. Leader must be service oriented. Let’s bring all your associations under one platform. Approach us we will cooperate in all ways. We will improve the structure of NRT,” said the Chief Minister.
