Kerala: Thanka Anki procession on December 22

The procession will start from the Aranmula Parthasarathi Temple at 6 am on Friday.

Kochi: The annual Thanka Anki procession carrying the sacred gold attire and jewellery to be adorned on Lord Ayyappa during Mandala puja on December 26 will start for the Sannidhanam from Aranmula on December 22. The procession will start from the Aranmula Parthasarathi Temple at 6 am on Friday. After journeying for four days, the procession will reach Pampa at 3 pm on Tuesday. It will be accorded a rousing reception by the Travancore Devaswom Board officials at Saramkutty at 5 pm. The Lord Ayyappa deity will be adorned with the attire around 6.30 pm.

The mandala puja will be held between 11.30 am and 12.45 noon on Tuesday and the temple will be closed at 10 pm on the day. It will be reopened only on December 30 evening for the ‘Makaravilakku’ season. Receptions will be accorded for the process at 124 temples en route.
