Allow for diversity in faith, leave the 18 steps' to men

There are temples dedicated to women and temples dedicated to men.

India is an ancient country of various sacred practices, all paths leading to that one truth Ekam Sat Viprah Bahuda Vadanti. –Rig Veda.

There is one truth the wise call it by many names.

This country has more Devi temples dedicated to feminine worship than any other land. Temples in India are energy grids dedicated to certain practices to facilitate the ascension of spirit. There are temples dedicated to women and temples dedicated to men. Each functioning under a set of rules handed down in a tradition continuity.

Hinduism or Sanatana Dharma has always been inclusive and welcoming In this way of life, women are always empowered. The temple in Kamakhya worships a menstruating Parvati.A feminine seat of power. The tradition of worship also includes occult practices which are private and handed down as secrets and are timeless.

We don't worship Gods, this is a western concept. We connect to the energy of the deity. It's a communication between the devotee and the deity. It is a personal matter of freedom of faith. Each space of worship must be allowed this freedom. If we are truly a nation of people who want equality then we must allow for diversity and be inclusive.

This practice at the temple of Ayappa who is worshipped as a brahmachari has a long standing tradition. Let us be respectful. Let the eighteen steps be for the men. We have many other steps to climb.

In the Ishavasya Upanishad it says: Those who don't know live in a darkness, but those who think they know live in an even greater darkness.

Again this is definitely not discrimination against women. Are Hindus being asked to give up on their culture in the guise of inclusivity and equality?

There are so many larger issues. Clear air, clean water, clean food and shelter for every Indian. We must stand up to the destruction of our forests and rivers. This is the feminine that needs our attention. Hindu scriptures recognize women being closer to consciousness as the nurturers of life. Let’s be these women.
