Hyderabad: Bengaluru-based drug peddler D Srinivas Reddy a.k.a. DSR, a fugitive, who was the main player in drug racket involving an Indian Air Force officer, had once landed in the custody of the Hyderabad unit of the Narcotic Control Bureau in March 2014. He was caught with 21.3 kg of the Phenyl-2-Propamone (P2P) drug, but came out on bail and continued to run his racket.
In the new case, apart from DSR, NCB is hunting for four more suspects.
Srinivas Reddy was the main link between Wing Commander Rajasekhar Reddy and the international drug cartels based in Southeast Asia.
“The buyers used to approach Srinivas Reddy and place orders for certain amount of drugs. He would use people like Rajasekhar Reddy to get the drug manufactured,” said an official source, adding that the recent order of 230-kg amphetamine was procured by Srinivas Reddy from a major buyer.
As per the confession of the IAF official, it was Srinivas Reddy and Venkat Rama Rao who made him start a manufacturing unit with hired machinery at IDL Bolaram. He met both of them in Bengaluru when he was posted there. While Srinivas Reddy often visited Hyderabad, where a large chunk of his drugs were manufactured, he operated from Bengaluru.
