Thiruvananthapuram: A Non Resident Keralite (NRK) has brought out an electronic novel in Malayalam titled Nellikka on the fight of a cancer patient against the disease. T he e-book written by Rafees Maranchery has been uploaded on the Facebook page nellikkaEBook. The book can be downloaded and read on tab, mobile or computer free of cost. Mr Marancherrry worked as a media professional in the United Arab Emirates. He is also a blogger and handled a blog named Njan Parajithan.
Mr Maranchery told DC that the book was being distributed free as part of creating awareness about cancer care. The novel will also be brought out on book format by Saikatham book. The book will be released at the Sharjah International book fair to be held in the first week of November.
He said the foreword of the book was written by Speaker P. Sreeramakrishnan. The book narrated the tale of the fight of a young woman named Sumi against the agony caused by cancer. One of the characters of the book is the Nelli tree which changed its form according to the mood.
More than medicine or treatment it was love, affection and care that helped a patient to recover from the trauma, he said.
