CIAL model company to save Kerala rubber

The government has decided to remove deposits of soil, sediment and silt from the dams to increase their storage capacity.

Thiruvananthapuram: A CIAL model company with private public participation will be formed for setting up tyre factories and rubber based industries.

A high level meeting presided over by chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan decided to constitute a high level committee to explore the possibility for manufacturing value added products from Kerala rubber. Chief Secretary K M Abraham has been asked to constitute the committee by roping in experts from different fields.

The committee will also conduct a study about the possibility of forming cooperative of rubber producers on the lines of Gujarat's Amul cooperative. The government is thinking on these lines with the objective of providing good price for rubber farmers and strengthen the domestic rubber market.

High Range and Coastal Highways: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has directed the officials to complete the high range highway and the coastal high by 2019 and 2020 respectively. A high level meeting previewed the progress of the two highways. The 1251 km high range highway will be constructed from Kasargod to Parassala. The government has already given sanction for seeking Rs 3500 crore from KIIFB for the project. The high range highway will pass through 13 districts barring Alappuzha. The first phase construction will begin this year itself.

The coastal high way is being constructed from Manjeswaram to Poovar in Thiruvananthapuram district covering 623 km. It will pass through nine districts. The project is being implemented at a cost of Rs 6500 crore.

Silent and soil deposits to be removed from dam: The government has decided to remove deposits of soil, sediment and silt from the dams to increase their storage capacity.

The tender proceedings for the Pallikkara railway over bridge will be completed within two months and the construction will be started at the earliest. The NHAI authorities assured the chief minister that the work would begin soon.

Sabari airport gets consultant

The government decided to appoint Louis Berger Consulting Pvt Ltd as consultants for the proposed Sabarimala airport project. The firm will carry out technical, financial feasibility study and environmental impact study and submit detailed report within nine months.

The consultants will also be responsible for getting all the required clearances for the project from different departments and agencies of the central government in a time bound manner.

610 posts under the Ardram Project for district, general and taluk hospitals. The posts include that of doctors and paramedical staff. Nine posts would be created at Ernakulam Government Medical college, 14 posts in cardio vascular and cardio thoracic department of Thrissur government medical college and 19 posts for the Cath Lab

Three ITIs will be opened in Kasargod, Chathamangalam in Kozhikode and Kottarakara. The required staff will be created for he new ITIs.

Cabinet approved the project report for receiving '200 crore financial assistance from the National Cooperative Development Corporation for the development and modernisation of coir sector.

Three per cent reservation for differently abled in teaching and non teaching posts in aided schools under general education department.
n Cabinet on Wednesday granted sanction for opening seven new police stations in the state including one at chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan’s native place Pinarayi. Apart from Pinarayi, administrative sanction has been given for opening police stations Achenkovil (Kollam rural), Kaipamangalam (Thrissur rural), Koppam (Palakkad), Thondarnadu (Wayanad), Nagaroor (Thiruvananthapuram rural) and Puthur (Palakkad).
