Noose tightens on P Chidambaram, Kamal Nath kin held

The Delhi High Court on Tuesday rejected Mr Chidambaram’s plea for anticipatory bail.

New Delhi: Congress leader P. Chidambaram will on Wedne-sday seek an urgent Supreme Court hearing of his appeal against the Delhi High Court’s rejection of his anticipatory bail plea in the INX Media money-laundering case. Mr Chidambaram was the finance minister when INX Media was cleared for foreign investment.

The Delhi High Court on Tuesday rejected Mr Chidambaram’s plea for anticipatory bail. Justice Sunil Gaur who had reserved ruling back on January 25, 2019, also turned down a plea for three days’ protection from arrest to move the Supreme Court.

Mr Chidambaram and his team were seen at the top court soon after. By the time they got their act together, it was alrea-dy past 4 pm, however.

Meanwhile, the Enforcement Directorate arrested Ratul Puri, nephew of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath in a money-laundering case pertaining to an alleged Rs 354-crore loan fraud.
