KALPETTA: Actor Vinayakan, who was accused of using sexually abusive language over phone agai-nst a Dalit woman activist, surrendered at the Kalpetta police station in Wayanad on Thur-sday. The police releas-ed him on bail after registering his arrest and recording his statement.
Vinayakan was accompanied by his lawyer and two sureties. The incident came to light on June 3 when the activist, Mruduladevi Sasidharan, in a Facebook post recalled the verbal sexual Kalpetta: ...abuse she faced from Vinayakan over phone. When many social media users came out against her for falsely implicating the actor, she filed a complaint at the Kalpetta police station. The police registered a case against him on June 15.
The investigation team is also examining the cyber evidence against the actor in the case.
