Plus-2: Government school in Gaja-hit area brings laurels

THANJAVUR: Schools in Gaja cyclone ravaged areas getting cent percent passes in Plus-2 is indeed an achievement. Government higher secondary school Karambayam near Pattukottai is one such school. All the 84 students of the school who appeared for Plus-2 examination passed out bringing laurels to the school when results were declared on Friday.

Incidentally, these students, belonging to villages where electricity was not available for months together due to Gaja cyclone, were donated with solar lanterns by two donors Balasubramanian and Ushanandhini of ‘Clean Thanjavur Movement’ and Rotary club for studying in their houses.

This helped the students a lot, said the head master of the school. "We supplied 200 lanterns collected from donors to the 84 Plus-2 students of the school and Plus-1 and 10th class students. We are happy to note that the school recorded cent per cent passes," said Balasubramanian of ‘Clean Thanjavur Movement’. The DC had reported the donation of lanterns in December and the donors and school headmaster were thankful to DC for publishing the news.
