Tamil Nadu Veterinary doctors to receive special training

The programme will be followed by trainings at Vietnam, Africa and South America.

Chennai: Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (Tanuvas) along with Madras Veterinary College launched an international conference on, an update on the diagnosis of endoparasitic and vector borne parasitic diseases of companion animals in the tropics on Friday.

The Tropical council for Companion animal parasites (TroCCAP) Australia collaborated with the medical institutions to organise their outreach training programme to stress the need for diagnosing the parasitic diseases in small animals before adapting to treatment. The programme will be followed by trainings at Vietnam, Africa and South America.

Inaugurating the conference, Dr C. Balachandran, vice chancellor, Tanuvas, stressed on the need to collaborate and interact with international experts to have a common diagnostic regimen. “TroCCAP has chosen Madras Veterinary University as the first venue of its outreach training programme that will highlight the significance of early diagnosis methods and train the veterinary practitioners in diagnosing the parasitic diseases in small animals,” said Dr Balachandran.
