Hyderabad: Three arrested for using drone cameras in wedding

Flying cams were being used to cover event.

Hyderabad: Three persons including a function hall owner and an event manager were arrested for using drone mounted cameras for covering a marriage ceremony at the Venkateswara Garden Hall in Petbasheerabad.

Inspector D.V. Ranga Reddy told the media that on Tuesday evening police received information that drone cameras were being used at the Venkateswara Garden Hall. “Immediately we sent a team under sub-inspector. Srinath Goud. The team found three drone cameras operating in the sky,” he said.

The police arrested the owner of the drone cameras, B. Yugender Goud, event manager K. Roop Kumar and R. Krishna Kanth Reddy, the owner of the hall.
The inspector said that as per guidelines issued by the civil aviation ministry, the Cyberabad police commissioner had issued a notification banning drone cameras two years back.

“The Indian Air Force academies at Dundigal and Hakimpet are in our jurisdiction and there is also a military dump here. We arrested all the three and they were sent to judicial custody,” he said.

Cyberabad police commissioner C.V. Anand told DC that drone mounted cameras cannot be used as per directions of the civil aviation ministry.

“If anyone wants to use them permission must be obtained from the civil aviation and airport authorities. If anyone obtains such permissions we will permit them to use them at a specific height,” he said. Drones operating without permision are considered a security risk as they can endanger the public or can be misused by anti-social elements.

Three rescued from child marriage
The RR district police and revenue officials prevented three child marriages and rescued three girls on Wednesday. One girl had just finished her Class X exam and had come home from hostel. Her parents had arranged her marriage with a 28-year-old man from the village. Ranga Reddy SP Rema Rajeswari said that police intervened after receiving tip-offs about the weddings.

The parents had decided to marry off the children to save on dowry as they feared that they would have to pay more if their daughters turned adults. The 15-year-old girl, a resident of Syed Malkapur of Pargi Mandal, was about to get married on Wednesday morning. We and revenue officials stopped the wedding,” said an official from Pargi PS.

A team from Chengomul police station rescued a 16-year-old girl from her house in Chenchupally village. “The girl had completed Class IX. Her father Pentaiah wanted to marry her off. The marriage was scheduled for 10 am,” said an official.

Her groom was 24 years old. The third girl, who is also 16 years old, was rescued from Madireddy-pally village. Police convinced the parents to wait till the girl reaches 18 to get her married.
