Hyderabad: Film on Rohith Vemula in the works

The 25-minute documentary is being made as part of the final semester project of the students.

Hyderabad: A group of students from the Sarojini Naidu School of Arts and Communication are making a documentary on the last days in the life of Rohith Vemula, the Dalit research scholar from Hyderabad Central University who committed suicide in January. The 25-minute documentary is being made as part of the final semester project of the students.

Anurag Godugu, the student directing the documentary, said, “Rohith Vemula has now become an icon for many and a lot has been said and spoken about him.”

“However, only one side of him has been revealed. I am interested to explore his past life, what he spoke about and what happened in the 48-72 hours before he took the drastic step of committing suicide. I will be meeting everyone who spent some time with Rohith Vemula in his last days and I have got a month’s time to present the documentary.”
