Cyber crime squads in all districts of Karnataka: Dr G Parameshwar

The government along with the home department will form cyber crime squads that use latest technology to detect crime and protect people.

Mysuru: “For the first time, the government along with the home department will form cyber crime squads in all districts that use latest technology to detect crime and protect people,” Home Minister Dr G. Parameshwar said while inaugurating the five-day 60th All India Police Duty meet, organised at the Karnataka Police Academy, here on Monday.

He said, “Karnataka is holding the event for the sixth time. Over 1,500 police officers and para-military forces personnel are participating in the event. 21st century has thrown up new challenges. The internet is a double-edged sword. There is an allegation that the elections were hacked in the US. I don’t think we are protected from such attacks in our state. There are cases of bank accounts being hacked. So it is of paramount importance to use technology to protect the people and investigate crimes.”

Governor Vajubhai Vala said that a good police system is the base for the progress of a state and not indulge in illegal activities. “Even the SC ruling states that the police cannot take illegal steps with oral instructions from seniors.” He said, “The police are not civil servants but are karma yogis,” he said.
