People resent raids at Poes Garden, says TTV Dhinakaran

Speaking to presspersons here, he said those in power in the state were now coming out with explanations for the raids.

Thanjavur/Pudukkotai: Sidelined AIADMK (Amma) faction leader, T.T.V. Dhinakaran asked on Sunday whether it was proper to raid Poes garden residence of former Chief Minister J.Jayalalithaa in Chennai, after the government declared its intent to make it a memorial.

Speaking to presspersons here, he said those in power in the state were now coming out with explanations for the raids after the people and party cadres expressed their total disapproval of the Income-Tax raids. He alleged that BJP was trying to destroy AIADMK party and the latest Poes garden house raids were aimed at putting the party in poor light among the public.

Countering Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami's remark that he had taken to party affairs only after Amma's, demise, Dhinakaran said on the contrary he had occupied various positions in the party from 1987 and Ms. Jayalalithaaa had also fielded him (TTV) for the Periyakulam Lok Sabha constituency.

CPI'S PLEA: Meanwhile, at Pudukkottai, CPI State secretary, R. Mutharasan on Sunday demanded that the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister, Edappadi K Palaniswami and O. Pannerselvam respectively, should come out with a detailed report on the I-T raids at Jayalalithaa's house in Poes garden.
