Twitter to publicly shame people

Twitter stated that this change would be rolling out to both the app and on its website in the coming weeks.

Hyderabad: Twitter has decided to publicly shame people who post abusive tweets.

Instead of permitting users to just delete the tweet and get away with hateful content, Twitter will ensure that it will highlight the tweets that were forcibly taken down after users reported them. This notice will be displayed on both the account’s profile and the “specific tweet’s link” for 14 days after the tweet is deleted.

People have time and again raised concerns to Twitter stating that it’s not always clear to people whether enforcement action was taken or abusers deleted a tweet on their own. Twitter in its statement said, “Once we’ve required a tweet to be deleted, we will display a notice stating that the tweet is unavailable because it violated Twitter Rules along with a link to the Rules and an article that provides more detail on how we enforce our rules.”

Twitter stated that this change would be rolling out to both the app and on its website in the coming weeks.

It may be mentioned here that Twitter made 100 changes or experiments since 2017, to continue building a safer Twitter.
