Titli-hit to get relief by October 29, says CM N Chandrababu Naidu

He assured that all cyclone-hit victims will get relief and compensation by October 29.

Visakhapatnam: Expressing concern over three lakh coconut trees being uprooted in Uddanam of Srikakulam district due to Cyclone Titli, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said that the natural calamity has pushed the region which is considered to be another Konaseema of Srikakulam district, back by two decades.

In an attempt to bring confidence among the people in Uddanam region, Mr Naidu said that the government will develop Uddanam and make it better than what it was prior to the cyclone Titli. “A separate Titli Uddanam Reconstruction Unit (East) has been launched to receive donations from MNCs, NRI and voluntary organisations,’’ Mr Naidu said.

He assured that all cyclone-hit victims will get relief and compensation by October 29. Addressing a meeting after performing Durga Puja at Palasa Railway quarters in the district, the Chief Minister said enumeration would be completed by October 22 if there were objections and changes, final list would be made ready by October 25.

He pointed out that the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant has donated Rs 30 lakh, APNGOs Rs 30 crore and Andhra University Rs 3 lakh. MLAs and MPs of the state announced their one month salary as donation.

Similarly, all the IAS officers and government college teachers announced a day’s wages, Mr Naidu said. The CM reminded the people of AP had donated '80 crore for rain-hit Kerala and huge amounts to Uttarakhand flood and Odisha super cyclone victims.

He said 86 per cent of the cyclone victims have received essential commodities and kitchens were set up in 1,350 school for distribution of food. The kitchens would be closed from Monday as the schools would reopen after Dasara vacation.
