Notice served against two more liquor joints in Hyderabad

Officials gave one week time to the management of Sony Metro for their explanation.

Hyderabad: Excise department on Tuesday issued show-cause notice to a wine shop and registered a case against a bar and restaurant for advertising about offers against rules.

Excise enforcement wing inspector S. Srinivas said that the bar and restaurant, ‘Wine. Kitchen’ located at Jubilee Hills Road Number 36, posted flexes in various parts of Banjara Hills and Jubilee Hills.

“The Excise commissioner has already issued notification banning special offers like Happy Hours in connection with Ramya’s case. The Wine, Kitchen bar’s flexes included offers like 2 per cent discount on wines from 12pm to 8.30pm and 2 + 1 free beer to lure youth and students,” he said. He said that a bartender Vijay was arrested and handed over to Ameerpet excise police for further action.

The inspector along with SI M. Chandra Shekar and other staff recorded statement of the arrested bar tender. In another development, the excise department has sent a show-cause notice to the management of Sony Metro wines seeking explanation on serving liquor to below 21 year old boys.

Officials gave one week time to the management of Sony Metro for their explanation. Excise enforcement team has recommended the commissioner for cancellation of the licence of Sony Metro.
