Kottayam: The H1N1 cases are on the rise in the district, with 64 cases being reported so far this year. There were also three deaths.

However, the health authorities said the situation was not alarming as infections were limited to people with less immunity.

“This much of cases were reported for identification held in the district very well. Most of the fever cases are normal. However, if infected to those who lack immunity, it may become serious," district medical officer Jacob Varghese told DC.

He said the disease might become dangerous for those with diabetes and having liver diseases due to alcohol consumption.

The DMO gave training to 85 private sector doctors for detection on Wednesday.
