TIRUPATI: Pressure is growing on the TTD to display the ancient ornaments belonging to the Srikrishnadevaraya era that were donated to the Tirumala temple.

The Rayalaseema Porata Samithi (RPS) expressed some doubts about the safety of the ornaments a mongh ago. It said that the jewellery was usually seen during the Garuda Seva, but had been missing from view over the last few years.

TTD’s Pradhana Archaka, Dr A.V. Ramana Deekshitulu, had also alleged that the jewels were not seen for many days, a day before the board decided to retire him.

Speaking to this newspaper, RPS convener P. Naveen Kumar said the TTD should reveal the report submitted regarding a missing diamond, that was prepared by the Chief Vigilance & Security Officer (CV&SO) in 2001.
