ICF, southern railway bag awards at 63rd railway week celebration

Chennai: The Integral Coach Factory and Southern Railway, the two Chennai-based railway establishments have secured prizes at the 63rd Railway Week celebration held in Bhopal.

According to the ICF official, Perambur officials, the manufacturing unit of the Indian Railways was awarded the environment and cleanliness shield for the year 2017-18. ICF general manager S. Mani and principle chief mechanical engineer Shubhranshu received the shield from the Union Railway Minister Piyush Goyal on April 16.

Meanwhile, Mr S. Mani also received the second prize in Best Transformation Initiatives. “The award is given for initiatives like the complete switch over to stainless steel production, upgradation of ICF stadium, IT initiatives in HR and store departments, implementation of eco-friendly activities and others,” the official said.

Also, the Southern Railway stall at the Bhopal railway exhibition received the second prize. Apart from bagging overall performance award from the railway board, seven officials from the Southern Railway had received the Railway Board award for the services.

V. Mohan, RPF inspector, Chennai Central, T. Yoganath, loco pilot, Tiruvottiyur, T. John Aruldoss, deputy chief electrical engineer, Goldenrock workshop, K. Ponnusamy, track maintainer, Salem division, Naresh Lalwani, DRM, Palakkad, Syam Sasidharan, chief commercial inspector, Kozhikode, and A. Mohamed Nizar, deputy chief operations manager, has received the awards.

Moreover, Southern Railway team, consisting of P.V. Manoj, assistant commercial manager, T.R. Gireesh Kumar, Junior Engineer and R. Ramachandran, senior section officer had won the first position in the inter-zonal quiz competition, conducted earlier at Secunderabad in connection with Railway Week Celebrations, has also received the prize.
