Kochi Metro check by CMRS from May 3

CMRS K.A. Manoharan will assess the operation safety facilities, track and traction, telecom facilities etc.

Kochi: The three-day statutory inspection by the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS), the final procedure for the commencement of Metro train operation, in the 13 km-elevated Aluva-Palarivattom stretch will he held from May 3.

Upon receiving the ‘Fit for operation’ certificate from the CMRS, southern circle, Banguluru, a date will be fixed for inauguration of the commercial services. “If the CMRS grants a conditional approval, the Metro authorities will have to comply with the conditions before starting the commercial services. Otherwise, the services can be started in a week thereafter,” said a senior Metro official.

During the course of the inspection, CMRS K.A. Manoharan will assess the operation safety facilities, track and traction, telecom facilities, operational control centre, station depots, depot maintenance facility and passenger amenities among others.
