Three roads to CM guest house

Round-the-clock surveillance cameras installed in 85 places.

GUNTUR: Chief Minister’s guest house gets three roads connectivity and high capacity round-the-clock surveillance cameras. As many as 85 CCTV cameras were installed on the Karakatta road and around the CM’s guest house. The construction of a new alternative road amidst farmlands connecting Vijayawada-Amaravati road at Undavalli from CM guest was also completed. The government provided SPG protection to Mr Naidu. Hence, the security was enhanced to the CM at the guest with round-the-clock security through four checkposts. A permanent helipad was constructed in front of the CM’s guest house main entrance on the eastern side according to Vastu and further constructed quarters for security personnel beside the guest house.

The police department, in view of increased traffic on the modernised Karakatta road, felt the need for continuous surveillance for the security of the CM. The department proposed installation of 85 CCTV cameras from Prakasam Barrage to CM’s guest house under which movable CCTV cameras were installed on the Karakatta road. A higher police official said these high security cameras can be moved to any angle and can clearly view the areas up to 2 kilometers radius surrounding the guest house. Besides this, CCTV cameras were installed at the end of Prakasam Barrage at Seethanagaram and further on the Vijayawada-Tullur-Amaravati road at Undavalli.

Earlier, there was only one road to go to CM’s guest house from Praka-sam Barrage but as the VVIP and VIPs traffic increased, a new road was constructed on the Buckingham Canal connecting to old Vijayawada-Madras road. A second road was constructed from Undavalli centre connecting to Vijayawada-Amaravati road from the CM’s guest house amidst farmlands to clear the traffic in the emergency situations.

The locals of Seethanagaram and Undavalli, D. Ramulu and others said that the new roads are helping them to travel to farmlands, Krishna river and Vijayawada without hassles but on the other side, they were facing trouble during the visits of VVIPs, VIPs and other important persons due to blocking of the three roads. They said that Mr Naidu became a resident of Seethanagaram seven month ago only but they are living here for the past six decades and sought exemption to locals.
