Mercury close to 36 degree celsius in Hyderabad

People are already beginning to avoid moving out of their homes and offices during the day.

Hyderabad / Adilabad: The city recorded 35.8ºC on Sunday, and the rest of the state experienced similar temperatures. People are already beginning to avoid moving out of their homes and offices during the day.

In the districts, it was said that high temperatures may lead to overuse of groundwater. It was expected that farmers who are getting uninterrupted power during the day may overdraw water from borewells.

Farmers along the river Penganga are already facing a drastic fall in groundwater levels as the amount of water that penetrates the rocky black soil is less.

Minister Jogu Ramanna asked groundwater department officials to conduct a survey in Jainad and Bela mandals, which lie along the river, and to come up with measures to improve groundwater. He said farmers were already facing a shortage of water in these areas.
