Tirupur: Stone laid for Palladam poultry research centre

Tamil Nadu government has allocated Rs 4.34 crore for the poultry disease diagnosing lab.

TIRUPUR: The State Animal Husbandry minister, Mr. Udumalai K Radhakrishnan on Friday laid the foundation stone for a new poultry research centre at Palladam being established with an outlay of Rs 6.92 crore. The minister humbly led the ‘Bhoomi Puja’ at Panikkapatti village near Palladam in Tirupur district in the presence of the district collector, Mr. K. S. Palanisamy.

Speaking at the function, the minister said, “Palladam hub is the capital for poultry production in the state and its poultry farm owners are expecting better research facilities for protecting broiler birds from diseases and also to find various source of feed. The lab will come up on a sprawling five acre area.”

Stating that the Tamil Nadu government has allocated Rs 4.34 crore for the poultry disease diagnosing lab and another Rs 2.56 crore for setting up a lab for poultry feed testing, the minister said, “the funds were obtained under the Nadp and Nabard schemes.” The Broiler Coordination Committee (BCC), functioning in Palladam contributed '21 lakh to build a compound wall for the centre, he noted. Mr. Radhakrishnan also promised to upgrade the veterinary hospital at Palldam with modern facilities soon.
