Hyderabad GES: 300 volunteers to welcome PM Modi, Ivanka Trump

Hyderabad: Around 300 volunteers dressed in Pochampally Ikat saris and the Modi suit will be welcoming Ivanka Trump, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other delegates at the airport, hotels and buses, who will be in Hyderabad to attend the Global Entrepreneurship Summit

Nearly 31.5 per cent of the delegates are entrepreneurs below 30 years old with the youngest being 13 and the eldest 84.

Around 1,500 people from 127 countries will participate in the GES. The theme of the summit is “Women First, Prosperity for All”. The number of women entrepreneurs, investors and ecosystem supporters stands at 52.5 per cent.

The handloom saris will be procured from Telangana State Handloom Weaver’s Co-operative Society (TSCO). The department along with the US Consulate has been coaching 200 women and 100 men volunteers.

Students from NITHM, IHM and NIFT have completed three training sessions. After a few more sessions, volunteers will be assigned specific duties and are expected to be deployed at the airport, hotels and buses.

The Buddha statue at Hussainsagar will wear a new look with special illumination by the Telangana State Tourism Development Corporation (TSTDC).

Furthermore, the tourism department along with Telangana State Road Transpor-tation Corporation (TSRTC) will run special package tours for GES delegates within the city limits.

The tourism department will be arranging a special art and craft exhibition at Taramati Bharadari, where Telangana artisans will showcase their works.
