TRS MLA files complaint against Jangaon collector

The collector had recently accused the MLA of grabbing land meant for Bathukamma Kunta in Jangaon town.

Hyderabad: Giving a new twist to the tussle between them, TRS MLA Muthireddy Yadagiri Reddy lodged a complaint against Jangaon collector A. Devasena with Assembly Speaker Madhusudhana Chary alleging breach of privilege.

The collector had recently accused the MLA of grabbing land meant for Bathukamma Kunta in Jangaon town.

The Assembly privileges committee has served notice and asked the collector to depose before it.

Assembly secretary Dr Vedantam Narsimha Charyulu has sought clarification from state government on the issue.

Ms Devasana met Chief Secretary S.P. Singh and senior officials of the general administration department two days ago to discuss the issue and to draft the explanation to be submitted to the privileges committee.

Ms Devasena had charged the MLA with taking illegal possession of half an acre of the lake land and registering it in his name, besides misusing '30 lakh meant for developing a mini tank bund. She said she had the evidence needed to prove her charges.

Mr Reddy termed the charges “baseless” and complained to Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, the Chief Secretary and now the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly.
