Call Assembly to discuss solar report: Ramesh Chennithala

CPM leaders suspect a clear move to fabricate cases against top leaders of the party which was evident from Shah's speech.

Kozhikode: Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala, who addressed the media here on Wednesday after a meeting of the UDF North zone, said that the Assembly should be convened to discuss the Solar Commission report. “The government should immediately call the Assembly as they have made it clear that the accused parties would not be given a copy and it would be discussed only in the Assembly meeting.

The government is behaving contrarily in case of this commission report unlike all the other 135 investigation reports. This is mysterious,” said Chennithala.

He added that the letter by DGP A. Hemachandran should be taken seriously. “Prakash Karat and Pinarayi Vijayan are functioning as a B team of the BJP.

Their only aim is to weaken the Congress. The LDF has a soft approach to the BJP even at the Centre.”

KPCC president MM Hassan said that the action against the probe team was due to their reluctance to act in accordance with the will of the government.

P.K. Kunhalikkutty MP from the Muslim league said that the public had not taken the Solar scam allegations seriously. “The League has not taken the solar issue seriously as it was discarded by the public much earlier. Those who change their statements frequently need not be taken seriously. Leaking of the report on election day was cheap politics,” he said.

Speaking about the recent by- election in Vengara constituency, he said the majority crossed 40,000 last time due to the special political scenario that existed there. “However, this time, the LDF is ruling and ministers including the chief minister camped in Vengara and campaigned for their candidate. Our win was a huge setback for the LDF and an indication that the UDF will be back with a bang. Similar to Kerala, the BJP faced a setback in Punjab also,” he said.

In his speech, Panakkad Hyderali Shihab Thangal said that the Indian Union Muslim League did not suffer a vote leak in its traditional stronghold. He added that the League received the same support the party had been receiving ever since the formation of Vengara constituency. “We could retain the conventional majority of 23,000 votes this time also. The propaganda regarding a vote leakage is baseless. The majority of KNA Khader should not be looked down upon,” said Thangal.
