Hyderabad: Roads fixed for Ganesh immersion

A GHMC official said that the Ganesh immersion procession would traverse around 88 km from every nook and corner of Hyderabad city.

Hyderabad: To ensure that all immersion processions reach their destination smoothly, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation has filled 105 potholes out of the 113 identified on the procession routes and repaired 62 damaged portions of roads from the 77 identified by the traffic police.

A GHMC official said that the Ganesh immersion procession would traverse around 88 km from every nook and corner of Hyderabad city.

However, the official added that they would take up 100 per cent restoration of roads for an 18 km main stretch from Balapur to Tank Bund.

The civic body official said that in co-ordination with other departments they had arranged cranes and other facilities to help in immersion of idols which began from the third day after the festival.

He said more than 1,000 idols had been immersed at NTR Marg and Tank Bund and many more were expected to be immersed there.

He said that the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Water Supply and Sewerage Board would supply as many as 32 lakh water packets, special lighting arrangements too would be made in co-ordination with the electricity department.
