‘Ignite’ initiative formally launched at NIT-Tiruchy

Sivarasu in his inaugural address hailed the efforts of the NIT-T and the members of ‘Ignite’ for undertaking a noble cause.

TIRUCHY: The Tiruchy collector S. Sivarasu formally inaugurated a new social initiative ‘Ignite’, the official teaching club of the National Institute of Technology, Tiruchy, (NIT-T) here on Saturday.

Mr. Sivarasu in his inaugural address hailed the efforts of the NIT-T and the members of ‘Ignite’ for undertaking a noble cause.

Speaking on the occasion NIT-T director Prof Mini Shaji Thomas said that under this initiative, nine students from 49 Government Schools would be coached for the IIT-Joint Entrance Examination on weekends in NIT-T campus, which would enable them to join prestigious engineering institutes in the country.

Dr Venkata Kirthiga, faculty advisor of ‘Ignite’ welcomed the beneficiary students and their parents. Mr. Sanjeev, founder and former president of ‘Ignite’, presented an overview of the activities conducted by the club. He said with the help of the erstwhile district collector of Perambalur K. Nandhakumar in 2017, 13 students coached by the club cracked NEET and two students had cracked the IIT-JEE.
