Sabarimala: Premachandran to move private bill to stop women

It is likely to be supported by all parties except five members of the CPI and CPM, though his RSP is part of the Left Front at the national level.

KOLLAM: N.K. Premachandran will move a private Bill in Lok Sabha on Friday to stop women of menstruating age entering Sabarimala hill shrine.
Discussions and voting will follow his presentation of the Bill, which also has the distinction being the first to be presented in the 17th Lok Sabha. The MP from Kollam demands maintenance of the status quo prevailed before the September 28 Supreme Court verdict lifting the age bar. It is likely to be supported by all parties except five members of the CPI and CPM, though his RSP is part of the Left Front at the national level.

The legislation was part of the promise of the UDF, of which the RSP is a constituent in Kerala.
