Two women held in RJ Rajesh murder case

Thiruvananthapuram: Two women were arrested in connection with the murder of radio jockey Rajesh at Madavoor near Kilimanoor, on Wednesday. The third accused Appuni's sister Bhagyasree, 29, and Appuni's friend Sebella Bonny, 38, were held on charges of harbouring the accused. They had helped Appuni to remain in hideout after the murder. Bhagyalekhmi's husband Sumith was earlier held by the police along with Appuni.

Meanwhile, the weapon used by Appunni for the murder was recovered from the compound of the house of Sanu, another accused in the case, at Vallikeezhu in Kollam. The weapons used by the other accused were earlier seized by the police.

Police sources said Appuni received Rs 1 lakh from the prime accused Qatar-based businessman Abdul Sathar through his mother's bank account. If transaction was done with the knowledge of his mother, she may also be arraigned in the case, said police.

Appunni was tracked by the police by verifying the call details of Sumit and Sebella. Sebella, hailing from Kochi, was said to be an intimate friend of Appunni.

Meanwhile, Appunni alias Appu told the police that he was involved in the crime after another accused Mohammed Salih alias Salih Bin Jalala alias Ali Bhai assured that Sathar would give him money and job in Qatar. Appunni and Sumith were produced before court and remanded after evidence collection.

While the police already initiated steps to issue red corner notice for Sathar, police would also ask his wife to come down from Qatar to give statement in the case. It was her intimate relationship with Rajesh that allegedly prompted Sathar to give quatation for the murder.
