New Tamil film releases, shooting from tomorrow

He expressed his gratitude to all who cooperated to realise this dream of making the film industry a structured and systematic' one.

Chennai: New Tamil film releases are on from Friday, so too cinema shooting. The TFPC president, Vishal, announced that the effects of the film industry strike called on March 1 would disappear from April 20.

At a press conference on Wednesday, the actor/producer talked on various issues including a cap on movie ticket prices, transparency in ticket collection, flexible ticket pricing system and a film release regulation system. He expressed his gratitude to all who cooperated to realise this dream of making the film industry a ‘structured and systematic’ one.

“Karthik Subbaraj's Mercury will be the first film which will have a grand release this Friday. They have already released the movie all over the globe except here. Two more small films will also be released on April 20 depending upon which producer is ready for immediate release,” Vishal said.

As far as the shooting of films is concerned, it will be streamlined based on the agreement with TFPC in order to avoid cramping of too many of them. He assured that the ceiling of ticket pricing would be fixed at a maximum of '150 even if it were a big star movie “All theatre owners across the state have agreed to this resolution. The new flexible ticket pricing system will be categorised into three divisions based on the budget of the film.” He added, “We are giving options to producers to lock their release dates in advance and accordingly they can plan the schedule.” He stated that a release regulation committee has been formed.

Reacting to a query on how they had planned to reduce the exorbitant salaries of heroes which seems to be a big threat, Vishal said, “Nadigar Sangam had organised a meet with all K'town actors on Friday to discuss the issue and arrive at a solution.” On Kamal's Vishwaroopam 2 and Rajini's Kaala's release, Vishal said, “As far as I know, Kamal sir had planned to release Vishwaroopam 2 in the month of May. Both the flicks are pan-Indian releases and the producers would tell us as when they want them to be released. We will know in a day or two”. FEFSI head RK Selvamani, Kathiresan and SR Prabhu were among others present on the occasion.
