No drunk driving checks on mishap day

The accident that happened on Saturday night between LV Prasad Marg via Jub-ilee Hills checkpost and Madhapur, was alleged to have occurred due to no check for drunken driving conducted by the police.

Hundreds of people were then taking their cars out of pubs. According to sources from the traffic wing, there were no checks in the city on Saturday night as all the traffic personnel from West Zone, along with those in law and order wing, were deployed at Raj Bhavan for the Governor’s At Home programme.

Adding to this, the force became less in size with many personnel deployed for vice-president’s ‘bandobast’ in the city.

Some of the organisers had got a tip-off regarding ‘No Drunken Driving Check on Saturday night’ and communicated the same to their regular customers. This had not only increased their sales but also had its own effects due to drunken drivers on the roads. Even pubs alert their customers about the checks and warn them to be careful.
