LDF seat talks set to continue

CPI is insisting on getting two more seats Eravipuram and one seat in Malabar region barring Malappuram.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: CPM on Friday assured Kannur seat to Congress (S) and a winning seat to Aravindakshan faction of CMP besides responding positively to Janata Dal (S) demand for swapping one of its seats with Chittoor.

However the talks held with JSS, CPI, RSP and Janathipathya Kerala Congress failed to reach a consensus on seat sharing. Congress (S) president Kadanapally Ramachandran said his party expected a safer seat than Kanur.

In the talks held with CMP faction led by K R Aravindakshan , the CPM leadership offered Azhikode seat. However, the decision on allotting the seat would be taken after getting more clarity on fielding journalist M V Nikesh Kumar.

The CPM has assured Janata Dal (S), Chittoor seat in view of K Krishnankutty’s return to the party. However, in return of Chittoor, the JD(S) has been asked to part with one of the seats contested by the party in 2011. CPM has demanded either Angamaly or Vadakara.

Kerala Congress led by Scaria Thomas wants three seats that the party contested in last Assembly elections. While the CPM has not yet given any assurance of giving back all the three seats, Scaria Thomas said their party’s demand was reasonable and it should be considered.

CPI is insisting on getting two more seats Eravipuram and one seat in Malabar region barring Malappuram. The Janathipathya Kerala Congress is demanding seven seats though the CPM is willing to concede ive. The demands of allies wil be taken up at the LDF state committee meeting scheduled to be held on Saturday.
