Hyderabad: A TRS worker committed suicide by hanging using a pink-coloured party cloth inside the TRS office opposite his residence in Nizampet, in support of the party on Saturday evening.
The victim was identified as Guruvappa, 50. He was said to be a TRS worker.
“Ever since the elections were announced, he set up a small party office right opposite his house and decorated it with placards with slogans, flags and posters pertaining to the TRS. He used to go to the neighbouring areas on his bicycle and ask the people to vote for the TRS,” said Bachupally inspector P. Jagadeeshwar.
He said that a suicide note was found at the scene, which was purportedly written by Guruvappa. The note said he wanted TRS president K. Chandrasekhar Rao to return as Chief Minister.
Based on a complaint, a case was booked under Section 174 (suspicious death) of the CrPC and the dead body was shifted for postmortem examination.
A video that was circulated on social messaging groups showed many people in the small room, which the police had failed to cordon off.
